Adventure Sports in Sanya – Getting into the Spirit

Sanya a seaside town on Hainan Island has a tropical climate making it a popular year round destination where visitors come to enjoy balmy breezes, miles of sandy beaches and adventure sports.

Hainan Island is thought to be the only venue in China with consistent year round waves. The peak surfing season here is from August to December on the east coast where the waves rise up to surfer expectations. In summer the surf is up in Sanya's southern beaches. This six day cycling trip is not too difficult as the gradient is easy and most of the cycling is on asphalt with only one level three and one level four stage. Along the way cyclist can admire tropical forests, coconut groves and beaches.

This is enjoying increasing popularity in Sanya. Although flying through the air on a seat harnessed to a billowing parachute pulled by a high speed boat is not for everyone there are many hardy souls who are willing to give it a try. Soaring high over the water while exciting, is best undertaken after training and should be tried only with a trained crew who can guarantee a safe and enjoyable experience. Rides can be single, tandem or triple. Each flight lasts for 8 to 10 minutes at a maximum altitude of 500 ft.

Since paragliding involves only a foot launched glider with no rigid structure and the equipment is easily portable the sport can be enjoyed from any suitable location.
