Ever since Henry Ford first revolutionized the automotive industry in the early 1900s, the company that bears his name has produced some of the world's most iconic vehicles. From the Model T to the F-Series, the vehicles found at the local Ford dealer are consistently ranked among the best-selling in the world. Here are Ford's most successful vehicles of all time.
Despite safety concerns in the mid-1990s, the Explorer managed to remain a popular seller (especially for big families in Utah). A redesign in 2011 helped revive sales of this model, which has sold over 6.5 million vehicles.
While no longer the popular seller it once was, the Taurus was once the best-selling car in the United States. It has sold over 7 million vehicles since production began in 1985.
The original pony car is also the best-selling vehicle in its class, with over 8.5 million vehicles sold.
The Focus has proven to be a popular vehicle at almost every Ford dealer – it was the best-selling vehicle in the world in 2012 and 2013, and will likely pass 10 million vehicles sold in the near future.
The Fiesta's sales numbers are certainly worth a party of their own. The supermini car has been a popular seller around the world, with approximately 16 million vehicles sold since its launch in 1976.
The European Escort was a popular seller, especially in the United Kingdom. An estimated 20 million units of this model sometimes called the EuroEscort were sold between 1968 and 2002.
The vehicle that started the revolution was a best-seller around the world – in 1914, about 90 percent of all vehicles were Fords. The Model T sold approximately 16.5 million units during its lifetime.
The F150 has been the best-selling vehicle in Utah and across the nation for over 32 years, and the numbers showcase its popularity with motorists around the world. The F-Series has sold over 35 million vehicles, making it Ford's best-selling model of all time. No wonder every Ford dealer keeps its lot well stocked with these trucks.
