During the final stages of our sail across the Pacific from Panama to New Zealand, we visited Palmerston Island, a small community started by one British man, William Marsters, and three Polynesian wives back in the 19th Century. We were hosted by Eddie, the head of one of the three lines of family.

One great night on Aikiami motu. A motu is a small island, smaller than an islet. During my 4 week escape I stayed on Aitutaki which is a small island surrounded by islets and motus (i.e. an atoll) in the southern group of islands, in the Pacific Ocean, all islands, north and sound, being part of the Cook Islands - sum total population 18,000.
