About 26 people lived here years ago ... now this island is deserted and seldom visited. We enjoyed a week here filming nature : monitor lizards, birds nesting, coconut crabs and lush vegetation. We also explored some ship wrecks. This isolated outer-atoll is located in the central part of Yap State.

The Ulithi Marine Turtle Project, on Gielop Island, Ulithi Atoll, Yap State, Micronesia, allowing a visiting Oceanic Society ecotourism group to release some green turtle hatchlings. The release was done right at sunset. You will notice that the hatchlings were released at the top of the beach so that they could orient themselves to the water and to allow this release to be as "normal" as possible.
A glimpse into the natural beauty of Waab Island and Ulithi Atoll, some of her magical beauty is locked away in time, no where to be found else in Micronesia. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did. Many blessings to all!
