The Ono-i-Lau island cluster is perhaps the most isolated area in Fiji. It has a high biological value as it harbors a wide array of marine habitats and ecosystems as well as being a significant area for seeding for Tridacna derasa (one of the recorded five and remaining three species of Giant Clams in Fiji) and a foraging site for three turtle species.
