Top Cell Phone problems and how to fix them

Here's the list:

1

Scratched and Cracked Screen

Scratched and Cracked Screen

Many individuals go the route of purchasing a screen protector. This is a less expensive solution available from many different companies. There are also cases that fully encase the device and cover the display. While these tend to protect the entire device and screen, they tend to be bulkier, adding size and weight.

2

Dropped phone

Find a strong case. There are many available today based on size, color, texture, feel. Some are practical, some…not so much. Putting on a simple gel skin, which doesn’t cover the front, will help with minor, small falls. It will prevent the frame from minor dents and dings.

Flip covers will do the same, but when they are close they extend the protection to the screen. Neither of these will offer much protection from a 6-foot drop onto concrete which brings us to the third type, full cases. These offer full front/back and side protection and will offer the best proactive solution. However, these come at a price. They are usually big and bulky.

Also, when considering a cover, think of texture. A smooth surface case or cover will often create dropping the phone - more slippery in your hand. While a rubbery or textured surface adds grip and assists in preventing the drops.

Water Damage

Water Damage

Put your phone away before going in near pool…No, seriously. The majority of devices are subject to deep water damage due to having the device in your hand while standing around the pool, the ocea, or even…the toilet. One slip or bump and the device is out of your hand and into the water.

There are a couple different approaches to this problem. Full cases, such as those offered by Otterbox and Lifeproof, are effective methods for preparing for the unknown. Again, these cases add weight and bulk but they are probably the best prevention method.

Battery Life

Battery Life

There are various items that can cause battery life issues for smartphones.

o Apps – Exiting an app doesn’t mean it’s closed. Apps running in the background. Check “what’s running” on your device and close unwanted apps.

o LCD – The brightness of the display will also zap a battery in a heartbeat. Having the display up to its brightest intensity will not serve the battery life well. Ensure you have it turned down as low as possible for your viewing ability.

o Wi-Fi and Bluetooth – Having these features always on will zap your battery. As you move around the city, coming in contact with many hotspots, your device will continually scan and try to connect to the Wi-Fi locations. Turn WiFi off until you need it.

o Age – Lastly, the age of the device impacts battery life. The battery simply isn’t made to last for years. If that were true, and devices were designed to never break, companies wouldn’t be able to sell as many new devices year after year.
