Gam3rCon 2014 - THE place for gamers during Comic-Con

Over the years, Comic Con's gaming presence has significantly grown and Gam3rCon has been at the center this movement. Created and ran by people who are proud to consider themselves "gamers" they've crammed every imaginable gaming vice into one, five story building, giving fans a comprehensive way to indulge in their interactive compulsions. Whether it's tabletop games, video games, game inspired art, gaming industry panels or gaming themed rooftop parties, Gam3rCon lends it's love of all things gaming to the masses who flock to Downtown San Diego.

Come by to play an unparalleled line-up of games that will all be heading to Xbox One consoles later in 2014 or check out our entertainment offerings.

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie

This will be the 2nd ever screening of Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie, right near the madness of Comic Con 2014 in San Diego, Ca - Thursday, July 24th @ 7pm (Doors Open TBA).

NOTE: You do not need a Comic Con badge to attend this screening, just the ticket you can purchase right here!

Join us for what will be a memorable screening, followed by a Q&A with Writer/Director/Star - James Rolfe, Writer/Director - Kevin Finn, and Producer - Sean Keegan, as well as possible other surprise guests!

Nintendo Gaming Lounge

Nintendo will be hosting its first-ever tournament for the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS game at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25. Fans are invited to come to the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the Marriott Marquis & Marina located at 333 W. Harbor Drive (adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center) for a chance to participate.

Starting at noon, there will be a preliminary round in which groups of four competitors battle it out, with the winner advancing. During the finals, players will duke it out one-on-one to determine the top smasher. Tournament slots are limited, and fans will be able to sign up the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.

Video Games Live

After a five year absence from Summer Pops, Video Games Live returns: popular game music themes given the full symphonic treatment just in time for Comic-Con. This visual and action-packed sensory extravaganza combines memorable video game music with synchronized lighting and even some real on-stage game-playing!
Concert will feature music from Zelda, Sonic, Metal Gear Solid, BioShock and more!

Geek and Sundry

And what’s going on at the Lounge this year? Awesomeness! From video games to table top games, we’ve got it all. In the space will be Microsoft Surface, Wizards of The Coast, Logitech G, AMD (Dragon Age™: Inquisition), Japanime Games, CD PROJEKT RED (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), Blackmagic Design, Loot Crate, Espionage Cosmetics, and more. Look for more info about what they’ll be up to soon, as well as our full schedule!

But wait, there’s more! We’ll also shine a spotlight on some of the new shows in development, including the return of the award-winning TableTop, Spellslingers hosted by Sean “Day[9]” Plott, intergalactic action show Space Janitors, Morganville: The Series based on the best-selling young adult vampire franchise, and the recently released paranormal comedy series, Spooked. Cast panels, signings, cosplay, evening VIP parties and two official SDCC panels will round out the schedule, as more will be revealed closer to SDCC.

Super Video Game Land @ Mission Brewery

PubQuest presents: Super Video Game Land @ Mission Brewery, 1441 L Street, on July 24th from 6-11:55 pm. This event celebrates the video games of our past, displayed through the paintings of local San Diego artist Anthony Bulcao (his art pieces recently purchased by Ryan Adams and Shooter Jennings) There will be over 50 unique works of art from many of your favorite classic games available for purchase, music from the arcade days of the 80′s and early 90′s, classic video game consoles available to play, and of course the finest craft beer in town, brought to you by Mission Brewery.

If you have memories of playing Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy, Paper Boy, or any other classic titles, you will love this event. Held at Mission Brewery, at the foot of the pedestrian bridge that connects the East Village to the Convention Center, this promises to be an experience you won’t want to miss. Kid and dog friendly.

Paintings will be on display until Sunday, July 27.

Square Enix Arcade Showcase

Square Enix and Deep Silver have something awesome planned for video game fans outside the Convention Center during SDCC.

On Friday and Saturday of Comic-Con weekend, Square Enix and Deep Silver will be hosting an Arcade-style public showcase for fans to experience their incredible lineup of video games including the newly announced Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and team-based vampire vs. human online game Nosgoth. Also playable will be two new Hitman titles, Hitman GO and Hitman: Sniper; and several other Deep Silver titles - Homefront, Escape Dead island, Metro Redux and Sacred 3 – will be showcased during the event.

If you are a gamer or are just want to get away from the convention hall madness this would be a great place to unwind and get your game on.

Arcaders 13 years of age and older with Comic-Con badges will have the chance to engage with original, 80s-era classic arcade games at the Pixels Electric Dreams Factory arcade at the Hard Rock Hotel – and expert gamers will have the chance to win a walk-on role in Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad.

Each day, the top-five scorers on the leaderboard by the end of the day on any of the eight participating games will be automatically entered in two drawings: a daily prize drawing for a chance to win a PlayStation 4, and the grand prize drawing for a chance to appear in a walk-on role in Pixels. Official Rules* and restrictions are available on-site at the Electric Dreams Factory arcade.
