In Kumaon region, Pindari Glacier is the easily accessible glacier and is praiseworthy for its own beauty. Located between the Nanda Kot and sacred Nanda Devi mountains, Pindari is a gigantic glacier of almost 0.25 km in breadth and 3 km in length. Pindar River also springs from this Glacier and further gushes down and joins the Alaknanda River. Zanskar Frozen River Trek, (northern) sections of that gorge are popular in summer with tourists making rafting trips, typically from Chiling to Nimmu. In winter when the road to Zanskar is closed by snow on the high passes, the only overland route to Padum is by walking along the frozen river, a multi-day hike that is now sold as an adventure activity called the Chadar ('ice sheet') Trek. This trek will eventually be rendered obsolete once the road from Chiling to Padum is completed
The most well known tapovan in India is the area above the Gangotri Glacier at one of the primary sources of the Ganges, in Uttarakhand, India. At the foot of Shivling peak, a barren area at about 4,463m (14640 feet) elevation, is a seasonal home to several sadhus living in caves, huts etc. and it has become a trekking destination also.[1] The trekking usually starts from Gomukh and the trek was considered moderate to difficult [1] prior to the destruction of much of the trail from Gangotri to Gamukh by the 2013 North Indian Floods. Tapovan area is base camp for several mountaineering expeditions including Shivling peak, Bhagirathi peak etc. Tapovan area is full of meadows, streams and flowering plants and the meadows are considered as one of the best high altitude meadow in India.[1] There is also a place named Nandanvan near Tapovan, and Nandavan is also trekked by trekkers and pilgrims.[1] Nandanvan is also a spacious meadow located at the base of Bhagirathi massiff.
A shallow lake, having a depth of about 2 metres, Roopkund has attracted attention by having human skeletal remains easily visible at its bottom when snow melts.[3] There are many theories and opinions, from purely spiritual to purely scientific ones, which explain the existence of these skeletons, which date back to 9th century CE. Because of these skeletons, the lake is also sometimes called as Skeleton lake in recent times

Well-liked among the trekkers worldwide, Kuari Pass Trek offers startling vistas of the snow capped peaks of the Greater Himalayan Range. Also named as Lord Curzon’s trail, this trek goes through the lush valleys, thick forests and small villages. On reaching Kuari Pass, the trekker is rewarded with panoramic views of the magnificent peaks of Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kamet, Hathi-Ghodi Parvat and Dronagiri.
Pin Parvati Pass trek falls in tough treks as one has to walk over the glaciers in the Parvati Valley in Kullu and Pin Valley in Spiti. Starting from Manikaran, this trek passes through several villages as well as breathtaking mountains, verdant meadows and stunning lakes. As the trekker treks upstream of Parvati river, he comes across the glaciers. Before reaching the Spiti Valley, one has to travel through the Pin Parvati Pass, which is the highest point of this trek. Tourist explores Spiti Valley and its monasteries before going back to Manali through Kaza and Rohtang Pass.

Goecha La Trek is done in the alluring land of Sikkim. The Goecha La trek takes the tourist up-close for a fabulous view of the great Kanchenjunga amidst a splendid vista of the other lesser Himalayan giants within its range. This trek is an extension of the Dzongri trek. Trekking beyond the meadows of Dzongri is an awe-inspiring raw adventure, where the tourist is taken into the monarchy of towering mountain peaks straight above and the camp is set amidst the sight of high mountain glaciers.

On the way extensive view of the lush green Kangra valley are speated and soon the steep descend ends at the tiny Tibetan settlement of Bir. A delightful last day to this most wondrous of the trek through the land of the legendary Gaddis, tough and wiry Himalayan shepherds.
