Ålesund is a town and municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Sunnmøre, and the center of the Ålesund Region. It is a sea port, and is noted for its unique concentration of Art Nouveau architecture.
The building was designed by architect Hagbarth Schytte-Berg and built 1905-1907. It was the first listed Art Nouveau / Jugendstil monument in Ålesund (1984) and it includes the towns best preserved Art Nouveau interior. Jugendstilsenteret is an interpretation centre showing both modern multimedia exhibitions and international art and design of Art Nouveau.
Sunnmørsposten is a newspaper published by Polaris Media in Ålesund, Norway. Published in compact format ( tabloid) six days a week, it consists of two sections; one for local news, sports and classified ads, and one for culture, weather, opinions and editorials and obituaries.
