There were children from all over the world showcasing their digital learning in the Poster Sessions. I heard a potpourri of different languages as I walked through the convention center and exhibit hall. It was huge, overwhelming, and wonderfully insightful.

I can't wait! I can't wait! Those were the words that swirled in my head in the months, weeks, days and hours leading up to heading to Atlanta for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference. Why was I so excited?

Last year was my first ISTE. I came home wide eyed and full of passion. I told my boss that his one mistake in sending me was that I wanted to go back. He told me that he would see what I did with what I learned.

From The Educators Room (Sarah Winchester)
From June 28 through July 1 (Saturday-Tuesday), thousands and thousands of ed tech enthusiasts braved the heat and humidity of Atlanta, GA to attend the 2014 International Society for Technology in Education Conference and Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center. Since I am a local, I was one of those thousands....

( img: Flickr/BerkeleyLab) One of the great advantages of being at a large-scale conference like ISTE is seeing which ideas have begun to generate critical mass of action. This is one trend that I observed across multiple poster sessions, discussions and presentations.

We started our journey to #ISTE2014 on Friday by driving from Texas to Alabama where we stayed with my dear #2ndchat friend Carol McLaughin. We have worked together for several years on #2ndchat and have collaborated on a few projects. It was so fun getting to sit on her couch and just chat!

How can I even begin to write about ISTE? Short answer? I absolutely loved it. I drank in every moment of it. I loved the travel (yes, after living through a plane crash years ago, I can finally say that!), the humidity (goodbye excema, even just for a few days), walking through Olympic Park, seeing the skyline at night, the workshops, Chick fil-A visiting the Canadian Consulate, meals shared, memories made...

ISTE ended a week ago and it has taken me this long to fully process my experience. I walked away full of notes in Evernote, many QR codes, product fliers, and bookmarked websites. As the perpetual qualitative researcher I naturally looked for the patterns.

Insight Editor With this year's ISTE conference now behind us, we're taking stock of the most important things we learned. The Cisco SmartBoards we had in the Insight booth are awesome and attendees loved playing with them. Using technology to make the classroom a gateway to the world is a top goal for teachers.

Last week I had the privilege of attending ISTE 2014. If you are passionate about educational technology and have never attended, you are certainly missing out! I highly encourage you to bribe, beg, and plead with your administration to send you next year. This was my 2nd year attending.

I attended ISTE 2014 this week and pulled these quotes from Twitter or sessions that I attended. For one reason or another they resonated with me. How about you? Instead of attempting to summarize my incredible trips to Flipcon and ISTE, here is a collection of images from these events that I think exemplify the best part of these conferences: experiences and relationships. The residents of Mars, PA hosted a great event for us that included local food, a car show, a miniature train, and of course, the Mars space ship.

ISTE was awesome! It was five of the longest days of my life, but it was worth it. I planned my schedule of presentations to attend weeks prior to arriving in Atlanta. However, on the first day there one of my #ndedchat friends Janet O'Hara (@ndrrvec) introduced me to Rushton Hurley (@rushtonh).
