Introduction Ever since the 1970′s, divorce has become commonplace. In fact, the definition of family has changed dramatically. Less than fifty percent of families are intact families with the original mother and father. Families now include single heads of households-with women as the head of household, couples living together and step-families that become "blended" through divorce and re-marriage.
Very few people get married with the intention of getting divorced. The U.S. Census Bureau and research think tanks such as the Barna Group have revealed some sobering statistics and findings on the subject, though. Overall, the divorce rate is almost at 50%.

In a marriage, whether it’s been a year or 20 years, problems tend to build up over time. If one or both of the spouses chooses not to share how they’re feeling, the probability of reaching a divorce at that point is very likely.
Divorce is supposed to be a last ditch decision for a troubled marriage, so it's interesting to know what it takes for couples to call it quits. Researchers from the National Fatherhood Initiative conducted a survey asking people why they decided to untie the knot.
