Grade 12 Biology: The Nervous System

Grade 12 Biology is one of the most intensive and useful course. Grade 12 Biology is essential to get into the degree of your choice if you wanted to a career in the health industry. This collection of study materials would allow you to have good background knowledge of the nervous system in order to prepare you in getting excellent marks in Grade 12 Biology Exam.

Grade 12 Biology: The Nervous System is an application containing study materials that are most useful for students to prepare for their Grade 12 Biology course. This application is ideal for students who did not fully understand the materials and an excellent tool for those who have good knowledge of the course work, but need a way to review their knowledge while studying for Grade 12 Biology coursework. Make it as your free mobile tutor!

This application contains flash cards, summary notes and quiz for the following sections:

The Chemical Touch: Lite Edition

Sometimes all you need is a simple periodic table...

The Chemical Touch: Lite Edition is a free and easy to use periodic table for your iPhone or iPod touch. Consisting of a simplified version of the periodic table display from the full application, it puts the masses, densities, melting & boiling points, radii, and electronegativities of the elements right at your fingertips. If you need more elemental information, touch the internet button to open the wikipedia page for the selected element.

For those who have already downloaded the full version, the only thing new here is a fancy icon for your iPhone desktop. It's free though, so if you like Neon, you can display it on your phone at no loss other than space on your screen.

Molecules

Molecules is an application for viewing three-dimensional renderings of molecules and manipulating them using your fingers. You can rotate the molecules by moving your finger across the display, zoom in or out by using two-finger pinch gestures, or pan the molecule by moving two fingers across the screen at once. These structures can be viewed in both ball-and-stick and spacefilling visualization modes.

New molecules can be downloaded from either the RCSB Protein Data Bank (http://www.rcsb.org/pdb), an international repository of biological molecules and their 3-D structures, or NCBI's PubChem (http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov), a public database of compounds. Molecules can be downloaded directly to your handheld device and stored there for later viewing.

Custom molecular structures can be downloaded to the application via iTunes file sharing, or through the use of custom URL formats. For more details, please visit our website.

Molecules is a BSD-licensed open source project.

3D Brain

Use your touch screen to rotate and zoom around 29 interactive structures. Discover how each brain region functions, what happens when it is injured, and how it is involved in mental illness. Each detailed structure comes with information on functions, disorders, brain damage, case studies, and links to modern research.

Created by Vivid Apps and AXS Biomedical Animation Studio for the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory DNA Learning Center. 3D Brain was produced for the Genes to Cognition (G2C) Online website funded by the Dana Foundation and Hewlett Foundation.

3D Sun

3D Sun

A major solar flare erupts on the sun. Before long, your phone chirps in your pocket to let you know! Pulling out your phone, you see a 3D view of the sun — a digital reconstruction of satellite images freshly downloaded from NASA's "STEREO" satellites, orbiting millions of miles away.

You rotate the sun with your finger to view it from any angle. You pinch in and out to zoom in for a closer look at the sun's ever-changing surface.

Now this is living in the 21st Century! :-)

"3D Sun" lets you carry a virtual window onto today's sun, right in your pocket. Open this app anytime to see what's happening today on the sun's ever-changing surface. See when major solar flares erupt on the sun's surface. Track sunspots that reveal the churning activity inside the sun's fiery inferno.

News alerts — provided by a Ph.D. trained astrophysicist — inform you of important solar events. Optional push notifications will alert you of the most important events even when "3D Sun" is not running.

Mars Globe

Take a tour of the mysterious Red Planet. This virtual globe combines a high-resolution satellite map with laser altimeter data and advanced topographic lighting to present the planet Mars as it appears from above. An Introduction and Guided Tour present some of Mars' most intriguing features. You can leave the guided tour and explore Mars as you like; over 1500 surface features have been annotated with information and links. Mars Globe is a must-have app for anyone interested in our solar system.

"My science classes were never like this... a terrific demo of the power of the iPad to inform and entertain." - Mel Martin, TUAW.com

Spacecraft 3D

NASA's Spacecraft 3D is an augmented reality (AR) application that lets you learn about and interact with a variety of spacecraft that are used to explore our solar system, study Earth, and observe the universe. Using a printed AR Target and the camera on your mobile device, you can get up close with these robotic explorers, see how they move, and learn about the engineering feats used to expand our knowledge and understanding of space. Spacecraft 3D will be updated over time to include more of the amazing spacecraft that act as our robotic eyes on the earth, the solar system and beyond!

Please look forward to interacting with even more iconic NASA missions in future updates!

This app requires a camera.

NASA Science: A Journey of Discovery

NASA leads the nation on a great journey of discovery, seeking new knowledge and understanding of our planet Earth, our Sun and solar system, and the universe out to its farthest reaches and back to its earliest moments of existence. This NASA Science application brings you the latest information from NASA’s Science Missions, including the spacecraft, their instruments, the data, and what we are learning about the questions we seek to answer.

NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD) and the nation's science community use space observatories to conduct scientific studies of the Earth from space to visit and return samples from other bodies in the solar system, and to peer out into our Galaxy and beyond. Join us on our quest to learn…

Moon Globe

Hold the Moon in your hands. Moon Globe turns your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad into a precision instrument for viewing Earth's Moon. Satellite imagery and topographic laser altimeter data are combined to render the Moon with realistic lighting in realtime 3D.

Use the multitouch screen to manipulate the view. Spin above the surface, or switch to Telescope mode to see the Moon as it appears from your location on Earth. Adjust the display time and watch the sunlight shift over the lunar landscape. A "tag cloud" floats just above the surface, labeling terrain features and spacecraft; touch any label to find out more about that feature. Moon Globe also shows you where the Moon and Sun are in the sky with its dynamic sky compass.

This sophisticated astronomy simulation is FREE so that you can learn about Earth's Moon and wow your friends with what your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad can do. For Moon Globe fans, Moon Globe HD is also available, with twice the map resolution and somewhat better rendering.
