1. Wednesday, June 18, 2014: World Cup 2014

Oh, check it out! That makes total sense to Utah web browsers and Europeans alike who peddle SEO results. If you aren’t searching for updates on Google then you’re probably watching it on your phone at work while risking a visit to the unemployment line. But hey, if they fire you then you can just go home and watch it on your couch. A great lose, win situation, no? Even if you don’t care about the World Cup, or don’t even know what soccer is, you are probably getting Snap Chats from everyone and your mother with victory bar videos.

3. Monday, June 16, 2014: World Cup

Okay, we get it. Is the World Cup going on? Yes, it is very exciting and soccer is actually a fun sport to watch for most people, so we understand why it’s in the top searches this week as the World’s most popular sport. Also, those legs…those long, toned, fast-moving legs. Maybe it’s the legs. Women don’t get enough of those in Utah.

4. Sunday, June 15, 2014: Spurs

Hold the phone. There are other sports that exist? Of course there are. The San Antonio Spurs got the top search of this day because of their fifth NBA Championship win on Sunday night, hence their dominance in the SEO world this day. They dominated Miami Heat with a score of 104-87 and dominated the search engine charts.

5. Saturday, June 14, 2014: England vs Italy…Oh yeah, and Happy Fathers Day

World Cup obsession, we meet again. England’s defeat had people scurrying to their computer to hopefully read some kind of good news about the game. On the other hand, Italy rejoiced and bathed in victory. Oh, what’s that? Father’s Day was this past week? But…soccer. Soccer. Don’t worry dads, your kids were scurrying to find you a printable Father’s Day card right after they Googled some more World Cup news.

6. Friday, June 13, 2014: LA Kings

HOCKEY! How refreshing. The L.A. Kings were also kings of the Google trends this past week, even to Utah viewers without their own hockey team. I guess winning the Stanley Cup will have that effect. The game went into double overtime, so it was a very exciting event.

7. Thursday, June 12, 2014: Mexico vs Cameroon

And we are back to soccer. Mexico vs. Cameroon got over 500,000+ Google searches this day, hence its SEO dominance. It was the second game of the world cup, so we understand people wanting to keep up from the beginning. Even those legs wouldn’t have gotten that much attention. Mexico took the win with a score of 1-0.

8. Wednesday, June 11, 2014: World Cup 2014, NBA…aaaaaaand, Dumb and Dumber 2

8. Wednesday, June 11, 2014: World Cup 2014, NBA…aaaaaaand, Dumb and Dumber 2

No way. World Cup 2014 took first place for the Google searches. Netherlands routed Spain 5-1 and everyone wanted to see and read about their legs, I mean, the game…over and over again. NBA was the second most-searched, but we would like to point attention to the fact that Dumb and Dumber 2 took third place this evening. If you aren’t caught up in soccer, you are looking for dumb comedy. We get it.

I guess you could say humanity loves its sports, and they can’t get enough of them. Advertising agencies should maybe form some kind of sports team. On the other hand, maybe we should just stick to what we do best.
