Bhimashankar:- its one of the 12 Jyotirling's of India, a pilgrimage place approximately 3500 feet high up in the hills. The area around Bhimashankar is covered with thick dense jungle, is a Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is small (only about 100 sq. km’s), but it is home to a wide variety of animals Leopard, Sambar, Barking deer, Porcupines, Grey Junglefowls, Wild pig, Hanuman langur, Rhesus macaque and Flying Squirrel etc. The sanctuary is famous as the home of a highly endangered subspecies of the Indian Giant Squirrel – Shekharu (Ratufa indica elphistoni), which is also the state animal of Maharashtra.

Tung, also known as “Kathingad” is located in the Lonavala region and offers a commanding view of the Pavna Dam. The fort was built with the intention of keeping a watch over the Bhor Ghats and the Pavna region. This was one of the forts handed over to the Mughals according to the Treaty of Purandar.

The hike up from Bhivpuri to Garbet passes through a mix of forest cover & open patches. The trek is gradual with a few steep patches towards the end.

The forest is spread over 85 sq. kms. The siting of world’s largest moth – The Atlas Moth and also for lunar moth is quiet frequent here. apart form these its rich in biodiversity hosting around
200+ species of birds, 150+ species of butterflies and 500+ species of moths.

Kalawantin durg was used as a watch tower and is located right next to Prabhalgad fort on the old Mumbai-Pune route. The beauty of this trek is the amazing rock cut steps that zig-zag their way up the mountain to take you to the top of the fort.
