this is my trip to iwo jima japan. the island is smaller than i thought it would be. the island where us marines fought during world war 2. February 1945--March 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima between the United States and the Empire of Japan during World War II.

I had the opportunity to go to Iwo Jima, Japan on January 21st, 2014. It was quite an experience. The camera was a GoPro, just what I had, it's not the greatest video, but it does show an island that many lives were lost on.

On May 16, 2014, F-18 fighter jets from Naval Air Facility Atsugi's Carrier Air Wing 5 conducted carrier landing practice on Japan's famed Iwo Jima island, now known as Iwo To. One of the reasons for using the remote island is because the noise the jets generate when flying at low levels is seen as a disturbance to most Japanese residents.

The Marine Corps War Memorial is a military memorial statue outside the walls of the Arlington National Cemetery and next to the Netherlands Carillon, in Arlington, Virginia, in the United States. On February 19, 1945 about 70,000 marines invaded the small Pacific Island of Iwo Jima which was under control of the Japanese army.
