It is also the location of a major market, though not one of importance used mainly by Thai. An estimated 20% of Bangkok residents live in illegal squatter settlements across the capital.

Bangkok Port ranks among the 100 most busy container ports in the world. The port is located along the Chao Phraya river, a few kilometers south of busy Sukhumvit Road.
