Ilha Santa Carolina or also known as "Paradise Island" became famous in the sixties, when people like Bob Dylan and Elton John visited the island. The island had a hotel, built in Portuguese style architecture.

With the support of UNESCO, an extensive rehabilitation project was carried out on the Island of Mozambique. The restoration of the Fortress of San Sebastian aimed not only at the sustainable conservation of the fortress, but also at revitalizing the island. Old Portuguese Gun emplacements on Xefina Island, were used to defend Maputo, Mozambique. They're slowly crumbling into the sea. Inhaca Island is located on the entrance of Maputo Bay, in the south of Mozambique. Although small, this island has great tourism value due to its beautiful coral reefs and gorgeous beaches. The entire island is protected as a natural reserve. Our weekend here was like Paradise.
