Apple's newly announced operating system for iPhones and iPads, iOS 8, remedies a lot of things people have been complaining their iPhone can't do. The problem is, a lot of successful apps out there have gained notoriety because of just that: they saw a hole that needed to be filled and people responded.

The iPad has some tricks up its sleeve that you might not know about. While many complain about the software being "stale" (well, until iOS 7 comes sometime this fall), there are many features on the iPad that you can take advantage of if you know the right settings, gestures, or apps.

Apple on Monday unveiled iOS 8, its next major mobile operating system, which will bring several important features, including new notifications, widgets support, a smarter keyboard and support for third-party keyboards, Touch ID support for third-party apps, but also new health-related features.

Voice Dictation, or just Dictation as Apple calls it, is one of my favorite features of iOS on the iPad. As I've mentioned recently here, I use it more and more and it just keeps getting better. Though Siri may draw more attention, I think dictation is the far more useful feature right now.
