So I had all these extra tires, and instead of recycling them or retreading them, I decided to build a rhinoceros... I can only guess at the motivation behind these building materials, but I can't deny that they're creative.
1
Tire-Rhinoceros
{Yong Ho Ji}
Tires and rhinos have more in common than you'd think—thick skin, dark colouring, susceptibility to poaching, a vegetarian diet and a giant horn. Apparently the artist chose rubber because its flexibility emulates skin and muscles.
2
W'eel, the Tire-Rim Turtle
{George Gottbreht}
This artist obviously should have teamed up with the guy who did the rhino.
3
Paper Dolls
{Li Hongbo}
Paper's a pretty standard building material—but this isn't your typical paper-person.
4
Chewy Crocodile
{Maurizio Savini}
Teeth and chewing gum do seem to be a natural pairing...
5
What Came First?
{Kyle Bean}
A less-than-classic example of form mirroring content.
6
Panda Poop
{Zhu Cheng}
This statue might look familiar, but the original wasn't made of giant panda dung. THIS one's only 300,000 yuan.
