I've seen a lot of friends have issues with various hosting providers lately. I've been lucky as to get good advice and have great support on my side. I thought I would create a list so together we can weed out the hosting companies that really disappoint us, and push the ones who provide great PHONE support in times of trouble to the top. Vote them up if they have actually helped you when you got into troubled times.
Mila's comments: I use rackspace for email hosting. Every time I have called them I have had unbelievable support and assistance with a live individual. I have never had my access go down. I'd definitely consider them for site hosting. Good people who work hard and have good suggestions to accomplish what you want. I found their pricing a bit high which is why I didnt move the sites I host there...
Milas comments: Ive been using BlueHost for years. They are generally reliable. Their phone support is great, and their chat support is okay too. This past year, on both dedicated and shared servers, I had two outages. The most recent was 10 hours, during the outage their support also went down. It was frustrating - HOWEVER, the rest of the time their servers work well, i don't get a lot of server issues. My experience with their dedicated server is much better than shared. I was throttled for months on shared...so overall, a decent company. I'm still loyal to them because of the help they provided on the phone and the back ups they had when my site was hacked two years ago, but - the most recent outages leave this to be reviewed...
Mila's comments: I've used this server for two of my sites, on a shared plan. I do get frequent annoying 500 errors when I write new posts (memory issues) however they never go down and their online chat support is awesome. a great team on their support side for basic needs. Hasnt gone down, and hasn't been hacked. That's my experience, whats yours?

Mark's comments: I have domain registrations, hosting for multiple websites and email accounts all through Network Solutions. They've had their moments but, overall, they've been reliable. As a Gold VIP, I get discounts and priority support.
