Not every resume client that calls on us is already unemployed. In fact many that are seeking new resumes and LinkedIn profiles are still currently employed. We should all be able to search for and seek out new opportunities that will benefit us and our families without fear of retribution. But in this fiercely competitive and sluggish job market fear reigns supreme. We'd like to share some free useful tools for job seekers to use on confidential job searches. Do you know of any others?

While some may think that your information is out there for the world to see on LinkedIn that is incorrect. You can go into settings and hide your activity broadcasts this way no one will see that you are making changes and updates to your profile. You can make your photo private and visible only to your connections. While you might be limited in what you can discuss in groups in your industry because others related to your current business may see it. But you can and should still discuss industry standards whatever they may be in groups before you need a network. Network and make yourself stand out as a thought leader before you need it.

While I wouldn't necessarily post a public resume on Indeed even if there is a private posting option. It is still a great aggregating website that in essence pulls in from all other job advertisements on the web. You can go to industry career website for a more in depth look, but for a significant online curation of most of the job ads out there, I would suggest using Indeed and setting up weekly digest email alerts. This is not meant to have you sending out 300 resumes. But to identify where there might be a few advertised openings. You need to be able to cut ahead in front of the line a bit with an advertised job.
