Lessons Learned From Running I'm in a reflective mood today as I prepare for coaching my Runaway Moms (Plus 1 Dad) tonight. I'm feeling so grateful for the things I've learned from running, and from being a part of the running community. I've learned that I can do things I've never thought I could do before.
Iron drips and slinks deep into my veins while those around me suffer through intravenous poison... I prefer mine orally... Later I'll scrub, wash, cook, organize, and rear... But now I sit, swaddled in a clinic... Content. Alone, as usual. Apologies fall like hail, pelting my dignity as I feign detachment from those who care not...
Last year I and the chance to work with AlbionFit and review one of their tops which was awesome for working out.. especially for bikram! ALBION'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE WOMEN WITH THE MOST LUXURIOUS, FLATTERING, AND HASSLE-FREE FITNESS AND LEISURE APPAREL ON THE MARKET.
Since the weather is warmer, open your windows to let some fresh air in. It will help energize everyone stuck indoors. If you and the kids are up for a walk, take one. Just make sure you stay away from other children and playgrounds. Sometimes fresh air is exactly what a sick family needs.
But I went back to see the doc yesterday and all signs look good! He said based off of the training I had been doing, even with the little hiatus these past couple weeks, I could keep running, 8-10 miles max, keep it easy, although I'm thinking more along the lines of 3-5 and taking that extra time I would have been running and just SLEEPING.
Grad school, kids and life have been keeping me quite busy lately, but I finally have an update. Last April, after experiencing really extreme pain in my back wrapping around to my chest, I was diagnosed with pleurisy (inflammation in the lining of my lung).
OrthoLite ( ) contacted me to review their OrthoLite Fusion insoles ( ) awhile back. The OrthoLite foam technology is featured in millions of pairs of athletic, casual, dress, work and outdoor shoes each year in virtually every major brand of footwear. So, I thought why not ...
Right now, I'm not training for anything other than life. My next race-ZOOMA Napa Valley Half-Marathon-is nearly three months away, and my next go-big-or-go-home event (Victoria Marathon) is more than half a year in the future. Doesn't mean I'm sleeping in or kicking back: I still run four days a week and strength train Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Tall Mom: I am 5 pounds from pre-pregnancy weightand holding.Breastfeeding is going great, although I am starving and thirsty all the time!!I drink water like a crazy person and am still thirsty.I am PROUD that I have been able to keep up with the breast feeding.
Let's face it. I'm kind of a race wuss. I mean, I've done a lot of races, and a bunch of different distances, but they've all been relatively tame. Most of them have been on the road, with only a few short forays into cross country.
Hi friends, I hinted last week that the reset details were coming this week... so here they are! I'll do my best to join you again but cannot promise to be perfect while I focus on growing this baby. But I can't wait to see all of YOUR amazing results again!
As you know by now, I did not run a marathon this weekend. We were on the highway just north of Washington D.C. when our phones started blowing up with the news of the cancellation. Up until that point it had been a pretty nice trip.
So now - it is time to taper. Since I didn't peak in the 50+ mile per week range, I'll need to modify (ugh) some more to get the miles down for the next couple of weeks. I'm not really sure how I'll do it.
As so many little girls do, I dreamed of being a ballerina. Maybe not all the time as I was in tumbling classes and had Mary Lou Retton as my idol, but I still loved the Pointe shoes on the girls coming into ballet after my tumbling class.
Hi everyone! In a little over 3 days I will be having a baby. That means it's time to plan my races for the year. :-) That is what keeps me sane after I have a baby. Plus, I am antsy to get back out and exercise after taking a few months off.
The Run Like A MotherĀ® 5K series is an inspiring, celebratory event involving the entire family. The annual race takes place in multiple cities across the country on Mother's Day. Each event kicks off with a timed 1-mile Kid's race and continues with a women-only 5K on courses that wind through picturesque neighborhoods, scenic parks and city streets.
I don't even know where to begin with this WOD. First of all I was signed up to do this WOD on Friday evening, but when the WOD was announced on Thursday night I quickly changed to Monday because I had a half marathon to run on Saturday and it was very leg heavy.
