Listly by Jeanne Chung
This week I am embarking on BlogtourNYC, and before I head out, I'd like to introduce all the participants along with a link to their blog and a little snippet about them.
I first met Faith online, where be both belong to the G+ Interior Design Community and have conversed via the Community's G+ Hangouts on more than one occasion.
Last month while in Las Vegas for KBIS, we both arrived at the Cosmopolitan Hotel lobby sell ahead of evertyone else we were supposed to meet, we glanced at each and major hugs ensued - it was just like meeting a longtime friend!
I am so excited to embark on the BlogTourNYC journey with such a wonderfully talented woman!
Jeffrey Johnson hails from Dallas, TX, where he is known for his bright, bold color and his contemporary design aesthetic. Not only are we fellow moderators on the G+ Interior Design Community where Jeffrey takes lead of the "Inspiration" section, but I have had the privilege of meeting him several times and have really gotten to know him over the last year. I absolutely adore Jeffrey and look forward to more fun and inspiring times ahead as we venture out into the Big Apple.
Alison Habermehl is the owner and principal of Habermehl Design Group, a full service residential and small commercial interior decorating and design studio. Alison and her team handle work ranging from styling to professional renderings.
Typhanie Peterson is an Orange County, CA based interior decorator who also designs a collection of colorful, handprinted textiles that are used in a collection of pillows that are currently offered on my store, shop.cozystylishchic.com. I have also had the privilege of meeting up with Typhanie several times this year, mostly at Los Angeles design events, with cocktail in hand, and have even gone for a joy ride together in the then not yet released Rolls Royce Wraith with our fabulous friend, Brandon Smith of The TWENTY Six. I am looking forward to more adventures and stories to tell (and I know there will be many!) when we hit the streets of New York this week.
Even though I have yet to meet Deborah Main, the "Pillow Goddess", in person, I feel as though I already know her, as we've connected via the G+Interior Design Community and Twitter (THIS is why I love the world of social media!)
Incorporating vintage textiles and embellishments such as feathers, jewel-encrusted brooches, Deborah's pillow designs are truly bespoke and what I consider "jewelry for the home" Have a peek - don't you agree?
I'm looking forward to meeting Deborah and having her along on this adventure!
Paolo Thomas is another blogger that I have yet to meet, but I love her already. Her latest post "Go Fug Your Room!-SJP NYC", had me in stitches. Love that snarky Brit humor -it's right up my alley and I can't wait to meet her. BTW-I'm already DYING over her photography skills- what a great eye for composition and color!
Marc Abelman is CFO and Director of Marketing of Inside Style, where he heads the business and marketing side of the business while his wife, the über-talented Jill Abelman, handles the creative part of the business.
As BlogTourNYC will be a lot about learning, including food and cooking, I look forward to the unique insights Marc will bring to the table, as he most recently wrapped up his career in restaurants at Michelin-rated restaurant Michael Mina before joining forces with his wife at Inside Style.
Jill Abelman, along with her husband, Marc (whom you just read about above), also hails from Las Vegas, where she is a designer for the business she shares with her husband, Inside Style. Jill has an impressive repertoire of work:
Maureen is another blogger that I have not yet had the chance to meet in person, but I've gotten to know her via Facebook and noticed that not only does she live in a VERY cold place, but she also loves shoes!
That being said, it is no wonder that Maureen is certified True Color Expert, and is best known for her bold and unexpected use of color. I, too used a lot of color when I lived in the NY/NJ area to keep myself from getting depressed in the cold, long winter months. There's nothing like color to lift one's spirits!
I can't wait to spend 5 full days with Maureen as we explore design in NYC.
Marcy Michaud's blog, "Stylesson" is a merging of "style" + "lesson" and offers visual inspiration by highlighting her favorite interior design blogs. There are so many out there - too many to mention, and Marcy helps us all to navigate the extensive blogosphere. Visit her site if you have a chance, many friends and people I know in the industry have been featured (including myself, for BlogTourNYC)
Vicki Gladle-Bolick, Founder and Editor of the Ace of Space Blog started out her career in politics, but eventually left to pursue her true passion - interior design. Vicki's blog was once described as "haute design with a sense of humor" You have no idea how accurately this statement describes her! I first met Vicki in NY at Blogfest last May.
More recently, I met up with Vicki at the Design Bloggers Conference, where her blog, The Ace of Space was a finalist for "Best Design Blog". Because she had been a finalist in the same category more than once before and did not win (although I think her blog is fabulous), she has dubbed herself the "Susan Lucci of Design Bloggers" Those of you who are old enough to have followed the soap opera "All My Children" back in the day know what I mean...
I'm looking forward to more laughs and chuckles with Vicki this week!
Last but not least, MOI. No explanation needed here - I'm just as fabulous as can be, and I'll make sure that everyone has a fantastic time and learns lots during our time in NY.
