Professional learning communities have limitless potential for today's educators During my second year of teaching, I learned an invaluable lesson: learning communities have the power to enrich our professional and personal lives. I learned this lesson firsthand when I participated in a "critical friends" workshop sponsored by the Annenberg Institute for School Reform.

The profession kicks us around and often kicks hardest when we're down. We teach for the pleasure of sharing a subject or skill that we love and hope to infuse a passion in someone else.

Although PLNs have been around for years, in recent years social media has made it possible for these networks to grow exponentially.

Whatsapp is an excellent messaging tool which has captivated one and all. Connecting with friends, near and distant, has become easy with Whatsapp. You have groups connecting you to school, college, society etc. friends who you don't meet anymore. There are office groups too.
