Most Censored Countries in the World

According to Freedom House, there are just 69 countries in the world that have complete freedom of the press. Most of these countries are located in Europe or the Americas. Luckily, advertising agencies in Utah are able to enjoy this freedom when it comes to advertising campaigns. Unfortunately, most other countries have a severe restriction of what journalists and advertising agencies can or can’t show. This prevents the public from being informed of some very important issues.

1. North Korea

Freedom of the press in North Korea is almost non-existent. The government has chosen to control all media, including advertising agencies. Most advertising in this country is government propaganda. In comparison to the ads we typically see in Utah, North Korea’s ads are kind of scary.

2. Burma

2. Burma

Journalists in Burma are required to have any publications censored by the government prior to being broadcast. Any advertising is also required to be censored by the government. Anyone that resists this law is subject to imprisonment.

3. Turkmenistan

In this country, there is freedom of the press laws established in the constitution, but the government has ignored them. Journalists have chosen to self-censor their content because of the fear of being charged with libel against the country.

4. Eritrea

4. Eritrea

There are no privately owned agencies or media outlets in Eritrea. Any media is entirely owned by the government and all journalists are state employed. This makes journalists and ad agencies in Utah lucky to have the freedoms they often take advantage of.

5. Libya

The punishment for going against the Libyan government through journalistic practices is as harsh as death. The government has complete control over media outlets. In Utah and the rest of the United States, this would be illegal as freedom of the press is strictly protected.

Consumers are dictating how they want to do business and it's not the way you've probably done business before.
