Credit Union Place

The City of Summerside’s Aquaplex at Credit Union Place will be open from 6a.m. to 8p.m. It has two pools, a hot tub, a sauna and a steam room. Our waterslide will be running from 1pm to 3pm and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.. The lap pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m..

Cosmic “Glow in the Dark” bowling is also taking place from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. in the City of Summerside Bowling Lanes at Credit Union Place.

“I hope everyone from babies to seniors comes out to celebrate Islander Day here with us in the City of Summerside,” said mayor Basil Stewart. “We are a small city but there is still lots to see and do. Everyone is welcome to come join in all the festivities

A bobsled competition will also be taking place in the main parking lot of Credit Union Place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with prizes being awarded throughout the morning. It’s hosted by the Summerside Boys and Girls Club.

BBQ hotdogs and hot chocolate will be served for everyone from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the bobsled run courtesy of the Consolidated Credit Union.

A minor hockey jamboree for skills aged players is taking place from 9 a.m. to noon in Eastlink Arena.

“The City of Summerside is known for its great hospitality and Islander Day is no exception. Come spent time with your family, friends and neighbors and enjoy all we have to offer.” said Councillor Jim Steele, chair of the City of Summerside’s Community Services Committee

The Summerside Western Capitals take on the Pictou County Weeks Crushers at 2 p.m. in the Eastlink Area of Credit Union Place. The doors open at 1 p.m.. All school aged children and younger will be admitted free courtesy of the Consolidated Credit Union. Student ID’s may be required.

Several televisions are located throughout the lobby of Credit Union Place so no one will miss a minute of all the action of the 2014 Winter Olympics currently underway in Sochi, Russia.

Weather permitting the City of Summerside’s outdoor ice hockey rink located in Schurman Park will officially open on Islander day. So grab some friends and enjoy a game of hockey in the outdoors. Also weather permitting free hot chocolate will be served from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Summerside’s ice skating oval located in the Queen Elizabeth Ball Park.
