UC San Diego serves as a regional resource for adults with Down syndrome and their families, caregivers, health care professionals, and others who share in our dedication to helping this population live happier and healthier lives.
During a visit to the Center a thorough physical examination is performed and a complete medical history taken by the physicians or nurse practitioner who specializes in the care of adults and adolescents with Down syndrome. Each patient visits with a social worker. Laboratory tests will be performed in the Center.
The Down Syndrome Adolescent & Young Adult Clinic serves patients from 13 to 21 years of age. Families and youth will be supported and educated about transition planning. The goal is for your child to be prepared for adulthood and as engaged in their care as possible.
The Adult Down Syndrome Clinic at UAB is one of only a few clinics of its type in the nation, serving adolescents and adults beginning at age 16. We strive to help individuals with Down syndrome achieve optimal health and well-being, promoting lives that are as productive and independent as possible.
As individuals with Down Syndrome reach adulthood, many families are faced with finding resources for their adult family member with Down Syndrome. Now at the University of Kansas Medical Center, you can access a variety of services and resources through the new Adults with Down Syndrome Specialty Clinic.
