BUY. GIVE. JOIN (RED) SAVE LIVES and fight for an AIDS FREE GENERATION. #endofAIDS
Why we love it:
Product Red has recently become synonymous with thier fight to wipe down certain diseases in the area, such as HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculous overseas and in Third-World countries. While the company is mostly their own entity, major retailers such as Apple, Nike, Starbucks, Gap, and the Beats by Dre brand have all partnered with them. American Express even has a specialized credit card for users who want to donate to the cause by having a portion of their charges be used for donations.
Soma, a bra manufacturer, operates a bra donation charity designed to help women in shelters across the United States.
Why we love it:
Women who come to shelters often leave their homes suddenly, with little or no time to pack necessities before they go. This donation helps them regain some of the comfort and security they need to begin new, safer lives.
Today, 60 years after our Foundation was officially formed, our commitment to our communities remains unwavering. Since 1954, we have fueled more than half a billion dollars in support to nonprofit organizations in our communities. We reached a milestone in fiscal 2013, donating more than $153 million, or nearly $3 million a week.
Why we love it:
General Mills is a huge company, and knowing that they regularly and generously give to communities in need is inspiring.
Conscious Commerce, a nonprofit organization co-founded by actress Olivia Wilde and creative director and storyteller Babs Burchfield, pairs brands with causes so that consumers can choose to purchase items they like knowing that the proceeds will go to those in need--domestically and globally.
Why we love it:
To paraphrase Olivia Wilde, we love the idea of "voting with our dollars." Knowing that funds from a bag purchased at Alternative Apparel will go to a school in Haiti is empowering. Conscious Commerce allows consumers and brands to work together to make the world a better place.
