When we were children, the word “nap” made us throw a fit and our eyes produce a stream of tears down our faces. Now, as college students and work professionals the word “nap” is something we all would like to add to our daily agendas. We love the sound of the word “nap” because many of us do not get enough sleep at night. The lack of sleep can be voluntary or caused by sleep disorders. Insomnia affects many people around the world and the signs may be very subtle.
Staying up all night playing video games or on social networks then not being able to sleep, is not a sleeping disorder. If you have a regular sleep schedule and try go to sleep at a decent hour of the night but cannot get some shuteye for the life of you, insomnia may be your problem.
Waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back asleep is another form of insomnia. Environmental factors, temperature, stress and medications can all aid in not being able to stay asleep.
Having a sleep disorder can make it hard to have a refreshing sleep. With constant interruptions during the night, you are not getting the adequate sleep your body and mind needs.
Your sleeping disorder may cause you to want to nap during the day. This will only cause you to have a harder time falling asleep at night because of your nap.
