No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit. -- Helen Keller
Pessimism often sneaks into our lives disguised as “being realistic.” It tells us we’re just protecting ourselves from disappointment, bracing for the worst so we won’t get hurt. And in small doses, that protective instinct can make sense. But when pessimism becomes our default lens, it quietly shapes our thoughts, our choices, and even our future.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
The Bible is not just a book to be read—it’s a living Word meant to be lived. Too often, we picture Scripture as something reserved for pastors, theologians, or scholars. But the truth? God’s Word was written for real people, in real struggles, with real needs—people just like us.
We live in a world that tells us to chase comfort at all costs. Cozy homes, secure jobs, predictable routines—it feels safe when life is wrapped in certainty. But the truth is, growth rarely happens in the comfort zone. The most defining seasons of life often come when we’re stretched, challenged, and yes, uncomfortable.
And that’s where faith steps in.
The world around us hums with constant noise. News headlines shout at us, social media scrolls by in an endless stream of opinions, and even our own thoughts can race faster than we’d like. Add to that the pressures of daily life and the ever-present undercurrent of conflict—whether global or personal—and it’s no wonder our minds can feel like crowded, restless streets.
I call this Santini Serenity as Serenity is always my goal. However, Serenity is not always easy.
Those of you who follow me on social media have heard me complain about having to report to the Columbus office. Technically, we are three days at home and two days in the office. I've been following that quite loosely. I'm grateful for a manager and director who have allowed or tolerated this flexibility.
I'm a Martha and always have been. I guess it's the project manager in me. My husband is more like Mary although he's not sitting at the feet of Jesus.
Enduring everything means facing challenges head-on, no matter how tough things get. It's about standing strong when life throws obstacles your way, learning from every experience, and pushing through difficult times.
I have often said "age is just a number." On Sunday, I was involved in a conversation with some ladies about not dressing old. My late mother didn't believe in dressing her age. She wasn't going to Emblem Club meetings in go-go boots and mini skirts - Oh Mom, I'm glad you have a sense of humor as I know you'll forgive me for making that statement! While polyester was stylish in the 70s, she moved away from those in the 80s when polyester slacks were perceived as old lady clothing.
I go to bed fairly consistently 8:30 PM to 6 AM (6:30 AM on weekends as our schedule permits). I do Crossfit classes 4 times a week, I do Crossfit skills in my garage or at open gym once a week, and I have two rest days a week.Â

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple." — Psalm 27:4
