Quy Nhon Like You’ve Never Seen It: Five Surreal Spots That Redefine Coastal Travel in Vietnam – History, Nature and Loc

The popularity of a destination tells you that it’s a must-visit, but it also means there are throngs of tourists around. Quy Nhon, however, is different – it brings you peaceful escapes.

1

Ky Co Beach

Start your holiday with a visit to Ky Co Beach. It’s the kind of place that makes you doubt your eyes and ask the question: Is it real? You have all the typical features of a coastal destination – clear waters and soft white sand – but what makes this particular beach unique is the limestone cliffs enclosing the bay. It makes you feel as though you’re right in the middle of a fantasy movie. The beach is about 25 km from Quy Nhon city, and the fun starts with the journey to get there. You have two options: take the boat or drive along the coastal roads, followed by a shuttle or a walk. Either way, the payoff is worth it. The water here is incredibly calm, like that of a pool, and the beachside cabanas are ideal for lounging. Lining the beach are several seafood huts, so you won’t go hungry.

2

Eo Gio

It aptly bears the meaning Windy Waist. Eo Gio is a curved stretch of sand framed by cliffs. The sea breeze is quite strong but soothing. With honeycomb-like rocks and a winding walkway built along the cliffs, Eo Gio is highly photogenic. The view is unforgettable, but what makes Eo Gio surreal is the cliffside. You can walk along it, enjoying the waves crashing below. Come early if you can, when the light is softer, the crowds are thinner, and the sea has a moody quality that makes the experience even better. It’s under an hour from Anantara Quy Nhon Villas, which offer a range of Quy Nhon villas.

3

Hon Kho

This is a small island located just off the coast of Nhon Hai fishing village, and you don’t want to miss it. For snorkelling, it’s one of the best places in Quy Nhon. The corals here are bright and healthy, and the water is incredibly clear. If you’ve ever wanted to swim with fish, this is the best place for it. Apart from the underwater wonders, Hon Kho is home to many uncrowded beaches where you can have some time to yourself. From Nhon Hai village, you can get here by boat – the journey won’t take more than half an hour, although you’ll wish it did, as it’s an amazing experience in itself.

4

Thap Doi Towers

It isn’t a coastal getaway, but visiting Thap Doi Towers during your holiday in Quy Nhon is a must. These towers have a surreal, mystic quality to them. They feel like they don’t belong in this world, which is exactly their appeal. These two brick structures go all the way back to the 12th century. Today, they remain as remnants of the Cham civilisation. Surrounded by tall palm trees and the smell of incense in the air, you’re definitely going to forget where you are for a second.

5

Quy Nhon Night Market

To encounter Quy Nhon’s lively side, visit Quy Nhon Night Market. While it’s much livelier than other attractions, it’s not the kind of place where you go shoulder to shoulder with tourists. This market is the opposite of touristy markets. Locals come here to buy things and also set up shops selling grilled seafood, pancakes, sweet chè desserts, and all kinds of skewered meats. If you’re a foodie, you’ll think this is paradise.
