Aside from those, it offers numerous dining options, making it a sought-after shopping mall. Just like indulging in shopping, don’t fail to imbibe in these excellent dishes while you are there.

Pad Thai

Ubiquitous Pad Thai is a classic local dish that can be enjoyed many times over. Hence, it is unsurprising to note that visitors who love the heady feeling of Bangkok shopping and keep visiting the MBK Center also make a beeline for the MBK Food Legends to try different versions of Pad Thai. It is a filling dish rich with bold flavours and packed with fresh ingredients. Made with slender Thai rice noodles, it is tossed with meat, usually shredded chicken breast, shrimp or tofu for vegetarians. A scrambled egg is added for non-vegetarians. The stir fry is flavoured with shallots and garlic, making it full of umami goodness and served with a side dish of roasted peanuts, bean sprouts, green onions, Thai chilli flakes and lime wedges.

Thai Green Curry

Thai Green Curry is a wholesome dish and a favourite of meat lovers and vegetarians, served as Thai Green Chicken Curry or Thai Green Vegetable Curry based on the visitor’s preference. The green hue is obtained from the green curry paste, usually used with fish sauce and shrimp paste to balance salt and umami flavours. However, the vegetarian dish will be prepared using fresh ingredients like herbs, spices and soy sauce. The chicken or chopped vegetables are cooked in thick coconut milk mixed with the green curry paste, and often served with steamed rice.

Thai Fish Cakes 

This is an ideal dish as a starter or snack when you suddenly feel peckish while shopping. The fish cakes come in medium-sized patties, appealingly golden, chewy and with a rich, moist texture. It is served with cucumber and sweet chilli sauce. The cooked fish is mixed thoroughly with Thai red paste, fish sauce and kaffir lime leaves before being fried to golden perfection, thereby maintaining the succulent goodness in each bite.

Mango Sticky Rice

Mango Sticky Rice is a highly popular dessert in Thailand and is loved equally by visitors. It is a simple yet delicious dish that must be savoured while in Bangkok. Well-cut slices of sweet golden mangoes are heaped on mounds of steamed glutinous rice and topped with thick, creamy coconut sauce. The dish is served with a sprinkling of yellow mung beans. Every morsel of this delightful dessert is relished by all.

Green papaya salad is a quintessential Thai dish that showcases a symphony of flavours used in Thai cuisine.
