Bangkok is a dream for anyone who loves to shop. Being in a city that gives every traveller a stay full of colour and energy, Bangkok will also spoil you for choice when it comes to shopping! From fancy malls to busy markets, you’ll find it all. If you want to know where to go, here are five shopping spots in Bangkok you really shouldn’t miss.

1

Siam Paragon

Siam Paragon is hands down one of the most famous malls in Bangkok. Big, bright, and full of luxury brands like Gucci, Prada and Chanel, you would love this mall if you like high-end shopping! Siam Paragon isn’t just about shopping though – the mall’s basement holds SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World – a large aquarium and a must visit. You can also catch a movie at the Paragon Cineplex, which has some of the best theatres in the city. If you get hungry, there are loads of restaurants and a great food court. The mall is easy to reach since it’s right next to the BTS Siam station. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s fun to walk around and see the sights!

2

ICONSIAM

ICONSIAM sits by the river and looks amazing, especially at night. It’s a newer mall (opened in 2018), and it feels grand as soon as you walk in! You’ll find both fancy international brands and local Thai shops, along with the indoor floating market which is truly a unique shopping experience. SOOKSIAM is set up to look like the real thing, with boats selling snacks and crafts. You can enjoy art galleries and watch live shows, too. The river views are beautiful, and there’s a free shuttle boat from the BTS station. If you want shopping mixed with culture, ICONSIAM is a great choice.

3

EmSphere

EmSphere is the newest mall in the EM District, near Emporium and EmQuartier, and is close to stylish hotels such as Maitria Hotel Sukhumvit 18. Equipped with many luxury shops and cool places to eat, you’ll also find the first city-center IKEA in Southeast Asia here. There’s a big indoor arena for concerts and events, plus bars and restaurants, some open all night and therefore accessible to to those staying in a nearby boutique hotel in Bangkok. EmSphere mixes shopping with fun experiences and new technology. It’s right next to Benchasiri Park, so you can enjoy some green space too!

4

Terminal 21

Terminal 21 is a mall with a twist! Each floor is themed after a different city, so you’d walk through the Caribbean, London, Japan, and more. The decorations are fun and make you feel like you’re travelling the world. You would be spoilt for choice, with local designers and well-known brands. The food court is popular because it’s reasonably priced and lets you try dishes from all over Thailand! Terminal 21 is at the Asok BTS station, so it’s easy to reach as well.

5

MBK Center

MBK Center is famous for bargains. During its opening in 1985, MBK was considered the biggest mall in Asia. Full of life, MBK Center has 8 floors and over 2,000 shops. You can find clothes, shoes, bags, and electronics at reasonable prices. If you’re looking for souvenirs, MBK is a good spot. The best part is that you can haggle with the sellers- It’s part of the fun! There are also food stalls and small restaurants if you need a break from all the shopping. MBK is less than 1KM away from the BTS National Stadium station. If you like hunting for deals, you’ll LOVE it here!

Bangkok has SO MANY malls and places to shop – and they also have stores which allow tourists to claim a 7% VAT refund! (look for the “VAT Refund for Tourist” Logo at stores)
