Back in the early days of electricity (or even ten-or-so years ago), a light was more or less a light. Bulb and fixture manufacturers controlled a light's brightness and energy drainage. Today, there are a few more options in terms of both aesthetics and energy efficiency. One of those options, is "dimmer lights".
