Five Family-friendly Activities to Try in Singapore – A Guide to Making the Best Memories

Thinking of visiting Singapore with your kids? You’re in for a great time! The city is full of fun things to do, and among them, these are the top five family-friendly activities to enjoy together.

1

Night Safari

If your kids love animals, the Night Safari is something they should definitely experience. In fact, it's the first nocturnal wildlife park in the world. Just a heads-up, though – the safari only begins after dark, so it's best suited to children aged five and above. Younger ones might find the setting a bit scary and could get sleepy before it really gets going. The adventure begins with the Thumbuakar Fire Show, where dancers spin and throw fire. Next is Creatures of the Night, a 20-minute animal presentation. The main highlight is the 45-minute tram ride, which takes you through different animal zones with live commentary. It’s one of the most popular attractions, so make sure to book your tickets early.

2

Gardens by the Bay

Even if you haven’t visited Gardens by the Bay yet, you’ve probably seen pictures of it all over the internet. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Singapore and a great example of sustainability – showing how nature and technology can work hand in hand to create something truly special. During your time in Singapore, be sure to take your kids to Gardens by the Bay. They’ll love the giant Supertrees that light up at night during the Garden Rhapsody show. In the daytime, you can explore the Flower Dome to see plants from around the world, then step into the Cloud Forest, where you’ll encounter a towering indoor waterfall. There’s even a dedicated children’s area – your kids will love it! Nearby, you’ll find several accommodation options. For example, Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore, a popular four-star Robertson Quay hotel, is just over 10 minutes away.

3

Little India

If your kids are old enough to walk around comfortably, take them to Little India – one of the best places to experience Singapore’s multicultural identity. Its lively character will keep you exploring for hours, so be sure to set aside enough time. You can follow a self-guided tour from a guidebook or simply wander at your own pace. Pick up some colourful bangles or perhaps some spices to take home. You can even try a bit of henna art – fun for both kids and adults!

4

Hawker Centres

Singapore has a fantastic food scene. While restaurants offer a fine dining experience, hawker centres are the real deal. These open-air food courts have been a key part of Singapore’s culinary culture for decades. Each hawker centre tends to specialise in something different. They may not look high-end, but they’re extremely clean, and the food is both delicious and reasonably priced. Even picky eaters usually find something they enjoy. Some hawker centre favourites include Hainanese chicken rice, wantan mee, char kway teow, satay, and roti. Not sure which one to visit? Try Maxwell Food Centre or Satay by the Bay.

5

Universal Studios

For an adventure your kids won’t say no to, head to Universal Studios. It’s not a massive theme park – but that’s part of its charm. Everything is located close together, making it much easier to get around with young children. There’s something here for all ages. To make the most of your visit and avoid large crowds, go midweek and aim to arrive when it opens at 10 a.m.
