Five Things to Do with Teenagers on a Family Holiday in Bali – Let Your Young’uns Run Wild in Bali

Planning a holiday when you have teenagers to think about can be a bit tricky. Kiddie stuff won’t do for them, but they’re not quite adults either. If you’re heading to Bali, however, you’re in luck.

1

Bali Treetop Adventure Park

If your teens love a bit of a challenge, take them to Bali Treetop Adventure Park. It’s exactly like a scene from The Jungle Book – you’re up there in the trees, moving through obstacle courses with rope swings, zip lines, and wobbly bridges. They won’t throw you in at the deep end, by the way – there are different levels, so you can start early and see how you feel. Your younger kids can try the easy ones, while your teens, depending on how energetic they feel, can try the medium or the hardest ones.

2

Waterfall Trek

An organised waterfall trek is a great way to get your screen-obsessed kids moving without it feeling like exercise. Bali has loads of waterfalls tucked away in the jungle. Getting to these waterfalls involves a bit of hiking along the occasional challenging path – not too challenging, though, just enough to keep things interesting. Tegenungan Waterfall is one of the easier ones to reach. The walk down is pretty straightforward, and the reward at the bottom is well worth it. The water crashes down into a big pool where you can splash around a little or simply cool off your feet. Don’t forget to take some family photos while you’re here. And if, while exploring and having fun, you ever entertain the idea of staying here forever, check out Anantara Ubud Bali Residences – they’re known for their luxury residences for sale in Ubud.

3

Bali Bird Park

This is a fun stop for families looking for a bit of adventure. Visit Bali Bird Park – it’s home to birds from Indonesia itself and from around the world. Parrots, peacocks, flamingoes, and hornbills are among the feathered family that live at the park. The park is beautifully laid out with tropical gardens and shady walkways, so it provides a nice respite from the heat, too. Your teens are sure to love the opportunity to get up close with the birds, especially during the feeding sessions. You’ll also have the chance to hold some of the friendlier ones.

4

Bali Night Safari

It’s one of those experiences your teens will remember for a long time. It’s nothing like your average zoo visit. You get into a vehicle that’s almost like a cage, then head out into the dark to see the animals in the wild. In essence, visitors stay in the cage while the animals roam free, for once! The thrill of seeing a lion up close or catching the stare of a tiger through the bars is one of the most exhilarating experiences you’ll ever have. There’s also a fire show, a night-time animal show, and a chance to feed some of the more docile animals.

5

Snorkelling

If your teens love being in the water, snorkelling at Lembongan Island is a must-do. The water here is so clear that you don’t have to go too deep to find colourful reefs and tropical fish. Some places even have turtles swimming by. You don’t need to have any experience to try snorkelling here, as some tours provide guides and even gear.
