If you’re planning a trip to Tianjin with your family, here are some of the top adventures you’ll want to try.

1

Explore Yangliuqing

Located in the city’s Xiqing District in the southwest, this old market town has its own distinct atmosphere. The Great Stone Courtyard or Shi Jia Da Yuan is a traditional square courtyard and one of the top attractions in the town. The former residence was once owned by the family of a wealthy merchant but its serene river-side surroundings make it perfect for a pleasant walk today. As you explore the town, don’t forget to step into the little alleyways where you’ll find markets selling unique trinkets and tea houses where you can enjoy a cup of warm goodness.

2

Walk Along Five Great Avenues

Known locally as Xian Nong Da Yuan, this modern neighbourhood was once a derelict set of streets but is now one of Tianjin’s most vibrant corners. You’ll find plenty of family-friendly restaurants, intriguing art galleries and outdoor cafes, making it a vibrant spot to visit from your Tianjin serviced suite. The Xian Nong Da Yuan Courtyard is a particular highlight where you can enjoy a quiet stroll over the neatly paved enclosure. If you’re not up for exploring on foot, you can rent a bike or better yet hop on a horse-driven carriage - a much more intriguing alternative for families.

The Tianjin Yongel Ferris Wheel is the world’s only Ferris wheel that stands on a bridge, which only adds to the thrill of being on it. It is often referred to as the Eye of Tianjin as it gives passengers a stunning view of the city, especially when they reach the top-most point of the wheel, an astounding 120 metres off the ground. The wheel is popular among thrill seekers and is great for families with older teens and adolescents who love an adrenaline rush, especially if they are staying nearby at hotels like Pan Pacific Tianjin.
