Road trip to Utah from the Bay Area

We took a road trip to Utah in December 2013 around the Christmas holidays.

Below is a list of places we visited, hikes we took. The road trip was for about 9 days and we covered about 2000 miles.

We stopped at Las Vegas and also were able to hit the Grand Canyon south rim.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park | Utah State Parks

Venture onto a shifting sea of red sand. Changed by winds, these mountains and hills of sand can move as much as 50 feet per year. With areas for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts and those with non-motorized pursuits, the dunes offer adventures for all.

Arches National Park

Visit Arches and discover a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures unlike any other in the world. The park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. This red rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets.

Observation Point

This is one of the most amazing views. Look down toward Angels Landing. Enjoy the sweeping vista that is the main section Zion National Park. There are antelope ground squirrels who hang out here looking for handouts from hikers. Take some photos, have a snack, and just enjoy.
