Are you convinced yet that Luang Prabang is a great destination to experience?...

1

Explore the Old Town Architecture

The old town of Luang Prabang is best explored in the evenings for relaxation. This little picturesque town is surrounded by the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. With less traffic on the roads, the atmosphere is quiet and tranquil. Stroll along the streets and you'll find remnants of both local and French architecture which would look perfect for a capture. Most of these age-old buildings have now been converted into restaurants or hotels.

The Alms Giving Ceremony

For one to witness the Alms Giving Ceremony, beginning your travels early morning. Witness the saffron robed monks walk through the misty streets while locals step out of their houses with offerings of rice balls as food for these monks.  This ceremony takes place as an act of respect for the monks which is said to bring peace and satisfaction to the locals. While observing this event, it is recommended to refrain from clicking pictures for the gram. The Alms Giving take about 45 minutes, also, keep in mind that mornings are quite cool, therefore you will need to wear a jacket

This is one of the best places to people watch - most locals are up early and do some daily shopping for fresh ingredients to prepare the day's meals. At these morning markets you'll come across vendors selling all kinds of tropical fruits and vegetables, fresh fish and even snacks that are perfect for breakfast. This structure was built back in 1904 to replace the previous building which was destroyed by the Chinese. After the rebellion of the Laotians in 1975, this palace was converted into a museum which shelter relics of the past including the holiest 2000-year old statue of Lord Buddha - Phra Bang - after which the city is named.
