Top 5 Beach Locations to Stay at in Uluwatu: Crafting the Perfect Island Beach Vacation

If you plan to visit a few new tropical destinations in 2025, the township of Uluwatu in Bali should be on your list. Since it will be your first visit, it’s important to pick the right location to base yourself. Here are the top 5 beach locations in Uluwatu where you can enjoy a memorable island vacation.

1

Padang Padang Beach

Located on the western side of Uluwatu this area is one of the most popular places to stay when visiting for the first time. The main road connecting to the beach, called Jl. Labuansait, features the highest number of cafes, restaurants, and shops in the region. This makes it the perfect central hub from which you can venture out and explore the sights and sounds of Uluwatu.

The area around the beach is also rife with several of the best Uluwatu resorts from which you can easily access the beach. As for the beach itself, its shallow waters and gentle waves make it ideal for snorkelling and surfing.

2

Bingin Beach

Bingin Beach is another great option on the west coast. It is located just a few minutes from major hotels like Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort and is perfect for young travellers and couples. The village area around the beach features several atmospheric dining places. However, these are fairly spread out so you’ll want to consider renting a scooter.

Bingin Beach is one of the more laid-back beaches in Uluwatu featuring a few cosy cafes with great views of the coastline. It is also more swimmer-friendly than some of the other beaches in Uluwatu.

3

Uluwatu Beach

Located on the southwestern end of the Bukit Peninsula, the neighbourhood around this beach is frequented for its picturesque cliffside views and top-class surfing spots. You’ll also find some of the region’s well-known attractions like the Uluwatu Temple and a few of Bali’s most popular beach clubs.

After sunset, this area takes on a vibrant character with its beach clubs and clifftop bars coming to life with plenty of entertainment. Many of the bars are located atop cliffs giving you perfect views of the sunset.

4

Melasti Beach

If you aren’t too keen on encountering tourist crowds during your vacation, the southern coastal area around Melasti Beach will suit your preference, with an almost rural-like atmosphere. However, there are also quite a few beach clubs, each with a different vibe, if you’re looking for a bit more noise and entertainment.

Melasti Beach is quite accessible, nestled among dramatic black cliffs, with a welcoming sandy shore and turquoise waters that invite you to dive right in. The eastern edge of the beach is where you’ll find the famous Kecak fire dance show, a lively performance that lights up your evening on the beach.

5

Balangan Beach

If you’re visiting Uluwatu with kids, the neighbourhood around Balangan Beach is a solid option. Located on the Pecata Peninsula’s northwestern coast, Balangan Beach is a convenient starting point for day trips and excursions to other areas of Bali.

If you’re staying in this area, its namesake Beach is the most obvious choice for a day out on the shores. In addition to its idyllic golden stretch of sand, the Balangan Cliff is a must-visit spot that provides majestic views at sunset.
