Negombo Dutch Fort

If you are interested in Sri Lanka’s colonial history, you need to stop by Negombo Dutch Fort. The ancient monument was originally constructed by the Portuguese and renovated by the Dutch. It was the main point of security for the region. The place comprises a Dutch church and a prison.

Negombo Lagoon

Negombo Lagoon is a sizable lagoon comprising numerous tiny canals and rivers. It provides a host of opportunities for curious travellers. The building has significant Gothic architectural features which have been inspired by France’s Reims Cathedral. If you visit this place on January 20, you will be able to join in the festivities of the annual festival held to celebrate St. Sebastian which features a parade in which the saint’s statue will be taken across the village.

Sun lovers will have a swell time at Browns Beach. It is the ideal spot for sunbathing, swimming and relaxing on the golden sands. Known as a less crowded beach, especially in the early hours of the morning and late afternoons, this stunning beach is set amid beautiful scenery, offering gorgeous sunsets in the afternoons. This is a great spot to spend a day with your family.
