A Simple Guide to Ratchadaphisek - Places to Go and Sights to See

Ratchadaphisek, often referred to as Ratchada, is a dynamic district in Bangkok known for its vibrant nightlife, diverse shopping experiences, and cultural attractions. Beyond its lively atmosphere, Ratchada also offers modern shopping malls, entertainment complexes, and traditional Thai cultural experiences, making it a must-visit destination for those looking to discover a different side of Bangkok. Fun nights, interesting deep dives into culture and much more await.

1

The Central Plaza Grand Rama 9

This massive shopping complex in Ratchada spans 12 floors, offering a diverse retail experience in the heart of Bangkok. With around 300 shops, it boasts an impressive selection of accessories, cosmetics, music, fashion, books, and electronics. Shoppers can also find numerous beauty salons and day spas for a touch of relaxation. The mall is also home to an extensive range of dining options, from casual eateries to speciality cafés, along with a gourmet supermarket in the basement. Entertainment is just as abundant, featuring a cinema and an ice-skating rink.

Fortune Town

Fortune Town is a sprawling four-story mall that specialises in electronics, offering everything from computers and IT gear to phones, photography equipment, and a variety of audio and visual components. Renowned as one of Bangkok’s top IT malls, its key appeal lies in its convenient location just outside the main tourist areas, providing a more local experience. Situated on Rama IX Road in Ratchada, next to the MRT Rama 9 Station, Fortune Town is a go-to destination for tech enthusiasts.

 The Ratchada Train Night Market

One of the unique night markets in Bangkok, the Train Night Market Ratchada is a bustling hotspot in Bangkok's evening scene, drawing in mostly locals with a few curious tourists. More than just a market, it offers a vibrant mix of bars, street food stalls, and restaurants, creating a lively atmosphere for visitors. Shoppers can explore a diverse range of stalls selling everything from clothing and vintage antiques to handcrafted goods and quirky finds. With its night bazaar feel, the market is easily accessible via the MRT Underground Station. Since its opening in 2015, Train Night Market has become incredibly popular.

The Rod Fai Market

The Rod Fai Market in the Ratchada area of Bangkok offers the same lively atmosphere, antique finds, and street food as its original location is now in a more accessible spot thanks to the nearby Cultural Center MRT Station. While the Srinakarin branch is much larger, it’s located in the suburbs, making it harder to reach for those on the opposite side of the city. The Ratchada market, being more central and compact, is perfect for a quick evening visit. If you happen to be staying in central Bangkok hotels, such as the likes of the Avani Ratchada Bangkok Hotel,  make sure to check it out for a full dose of Thai culture.

 The Street Mall

The Street is a distinctive lifestyle mall in Ratchada - This vibrant complex features hundreds of stalls offering fashion, accessories, and more, alongside shops from famous and well-known Thai brands. It also boasts an impressive selection of dining options and health facilities. With popular high street brands like True, Boots, and Watsons, the mall offers four entire floors dedicated to food for those hungry-hungry hippos.
