Enjoying Seoul in the Autumn - A Splendid Season for Sightseeing

Visiting Seoul in autumn offers a captivating experience as the city's vibrant urban landscape transforms into a canvas of golden yellows, deep oranges, and fiery reds. The season, spanning from late September to early November, brings a refreshing crispness to the air, ideal for exploring both its bustling districts and tranquil parks.

1

Asan Gingko Tree Road

Asan Gingko Tree Road is often regarded as the pinnacle of autumn scenery. This long avenue, lined with towering trees, transforms into a stunning panorama as the leaves turn a brilliant golden yellow during the fall. It feels as though a real-life yellow brick road has come to life. Visitors can either take a leisurely walk or drive along the road to fully appreciate its captivating beauty, which is relatively close to places like Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro.

Changdeokgung Palace

Built in 1405, Changdeokgung Palace was the second royal villa constructed after Gyeongbokgung Palace. As the main palace for many Joseon Dynasty kings, it is the best-preserved of the five remaining palaces from that era. Located in the heart of Seoul, its Secret Garden offers a captivating, tranquil retreat. Once a haven for royalty-seeking relaxation, the garden is enveloped by lush foliage and exudes serenity. It provides an ideal escape from the city’s hustle, offering a picturesque glimpse of autumn in Korea.

Namiseom Island

Nami Island, also known as Namiseom, was created following the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam. It is home to the grave of General Nami, who achieved a notable victory during the reign of the 7th king of the Joseon Dynasty. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the avenue of golden trees and admire the sunlight shimmering on the Han River. For those seeking adventure, the island also offers a variety of water sports activities to enhance the holiday experience in Korea. With its picturesque landscapes and cultural significance, Nami Island has become a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike, drawing in visitors year-round.

Seoraksan Park

Seoraksan, one of Korea's most stunning mountains, is the centrepiece of Seoraksan National Park, renowned for its breathtaking views, crystal-clear mountain streams, and rich biodiversity. Visiting the park in autumn offers a chance to witness the vibrant red maple leaves covering the branches. Visitors can explore various hiking trails or take a cable car ride to the summit of Mt. Seoraksan. While it's not the closest activity to a Myeongdong hotel in Seoul, it's still worth the pursuit!

Bulguksa Temple

Bulguksa Temple, designated a UNESCO World Cultural Asset in 1995, is a prominent relic of Gyeongju, originally built in 528 during the Silla Kingdom. Over the centuries, it underwent numerous renovations, particularly between the 10th and 16th centuries, and houses several cultural treasures, including Dabotap Pagoda, Seokgatap Pagoda, Amita Pagoda, Saritap Pagoda, and more. Visitors can experience a traditional tea ceremony and take the unique opportunity to wake up with the monks at dawn, exploring the sacred temple grounds. As you wander through its wooden and stone structures, the vibrant red foliage of autumn adds to the temple's serene beauty.
