Whether new parents or parents who have young children, the most common problem in their day-to-day lives is feeding their children; making meal time satisfactory is a big task for parents as the priorities of developing baby food and favorite flavors change. Even after much trying, babies won't eat, and parents can't force them to eat.
So, how can one solve the problem?
The best thing is to introduce your little one to various foods and tastes at a young age, before 3 years.
Let's not expect your baby to eat everything you feed from day 1 without any refusal. Your baby will take some time to adapt to the new schedule and eating habits, so let's not hurry. Slowly add various flavors and give them in multiple portions and also observe what are they eating properly and what they are not.
Do not limit the food flavors before your baby turns 2. Try giving different flavorful food items to your baby so that would also continue even after two years. Most of the babies refuse to some food items after 2 years and to avoid such cases make sure that you give everything that is good for your baby so that they are known to the taste.
Giving the same kind of food every day can be boring for the baby and so make sure that you add textures and colors to the food with veggies, green leaves so the baby may love eating it. Adding liquid, smooth, lumpy textures in kids day to day eating won’t leave your baby as a fussy eater for sure.
If you are serving the same dhal rice, broccoli, or a carrot mix for the whole day then your baby may not be interested in eating the same, the entire day. Make sure to give small portions of different kinds of food during the entire day to make sure they enjoy every unique meal equally.
It is common that your baby may play, make it messy, prefer eating on its own during meal time, and let them do it. This way you are letting your little one eat and enjoy the meal as well.
Fruit in the daily routine is a great idea. Make sure to give a fruit during their snack time or during meal time so that they even taste different flavors. They might not complete what you give every time but at least a bite can add to their daily routine.
Yes, desserts. Not asking you to give them a whole ice cream box but at least a biscuit or a cookie in their routine or even once in 2 days is a great addon for their flavorful meals.
You must not expect your baby to eat completely whatever you serve. At times, they may not show interest in eating something new and at that time it is important to let them taste. It is seen that most babies prefer to eat if they love the taste so let your baby first taste the food.
Prefer not to set boundaries for your baby meal plate. Serve all types of food items that are good and healthy so that your baby even tastes those flavors that you do.
From the beginning, it is a good idea to teach your baby about eating together. Speak to them about sitting together and developing eating-together habits to help them grow in a happy and energetic environment.
