Wow homemade rocket stoves might save the day if the lights go out
Here are two versions of Rocket stove made in just minutes from cinder blocks, the smaller one from 5 blocks, the larger one from 6 blocks plus the base. Both use pot skirts for higher efficiency, and both put out very little smoke after they're well-lit.
This easy-to-make pot skirt gives a big boost in cooking efficiency to this Rocket stove, and probably to many other types of wood stoves as well. Previously, without the skirt it took 40 minutes to boil 10 liters of water - with the skirt it cut that in half to 20 minutes!
If you can stack bricks, you can make an effective biomass rocket stove. The materials are cheap, and readily available. Most important, it is a very simple survival skill to learn.
During an emergency, the ability to purify water could be critical. This improved brick rocket stove could be built for about $10, if you have to buy the materials. It's possible to salvage all of them. This is an improved design from the previous SurvivalCommonSense rocket stove post that had over 400,000 views.
After I saw Dale Calder's video of his Hobo stove, I just had to make one myself!
This instructable will show you how to easily make a functional rocket stove from recyclable cans for almost no cost. Items you will need: 1 - No. 10 Can (Standard restaurant size can. Mine was a pineapple chunks can from a local pizza parlor. They gave it to me free.)
