The Kobo eReader is an e-book reader produced by Toronto-based Kobo Inc. The company's name is an anagram of "book". The original version was released in May 2010 (July in the U.S.) and was marketed as a minimalist alternative to the more expensive e-book readers available at the time.
E-book seller Kobo has suspended the sale of all self-published books on its UK website following the discovery of abuse-themed titles. Kobo - which also makes e-readers - said it did not intend to censor material, but needed to "protect the reputation of self-publishing".
