Activities to Enjoy in Bangkok For Business Travellers: Making Your Work Trip Memorable

As Thailand’s capital city and economic centre, Bangkok is now a thriving commercial and entrepreneurial hub with plenty of business activity contributing to the city’s constant ebb and flow. However, there are also abundant opportunities for enjoyment, entertainment and exploring the vibrant culture of Thailand. If you are travelling to Bangkok on a business trip, here are a few ways you can make the most of your time there and enjoy the best of what the city has to offer.

1

Visit the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew

If you’re looking to explore the grandeur of Thailand, then make your way to the majestic complex that houses the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew. The palace once served as the royal residence of the Thai monarchy and currently still features several of the reception halls, courtyards and temples.

However, plenty of visitors are drawn in by the majestic Wat Phra Kaew temple, which holds the Emerald Buddha, the most revered religious artefact in the country, made from jade and dating back several centuries. The temple’s courtyard walls also feature the well-known Ramakian murals that were originally drawn in the 18th century.

2

Enjoy a Sunset River Cruise

Whether you prefer travelling solo or with a group, enjoying a sunset cruise on the Chao Phraya River is a great way to unwind spending your time within meeting rooms in Bangkok. You can choose from a range of vessels including fashionable teakwood boats with fine dining and large catamarans that feature bright lights and loud entertainment.

River cruises are the perfect way to enjoy the cooling river breeze and the magnificent views of the sunset as you enjoy the city’s best food and entertainment. Make sure to place a reservation well in advance as river cruises are a popular attraction for tourists and travellers.

3

Enjoy a Relaxing Thai Massage

Another great way to relax and unwind after a long day is to enjoy a calming Thai massage that blends the healing techniques of old with nature-based products that revive the mind and body. Thai massages are one of Thailand’s best experiences and are provided in various forms including foot massages, to complete pampering wellness packages. There are also a variety of therapeutic flavours including a mix of herbs, aromatherapy oils and others that work to relieve tension in the body.

If you happen to be staying at a hotel or serviced apartment like Modena By Fraser Bangkok you won’t even need to venture out to enjoy a relaxing spa treatment or a therapeutic massage.

4

Go On a Shopping Spree

Any visit to Bangkok whether for business or leisure is never complete without at least one shopping spree. With plenty of shopping malls to choose the opportunities to get your hands on the best local and international products are endless.

Bangkok’s megamalls like Siam Paragon, MBK Centre and EmQuartier are the most obvious choices if you’re looking to satisfy your high-end tastes. In addition to the best brands, you’ll also have access to several additional experiences in these world-class shopping malls. For a different experience altogether, you can visit the various street vendors, night markets and street shops selling local Thai silks, handicrafts and various items from local brands.

5

Visit the Jim Thompson House

You could choose to stick to the business theme of your trip and visit the former home of Jim Thompson, a well-known American entrepreneur and silk mogul. In addition to being his home, this Thai-style traditional building was used by Thomson as a storage space for his collection of ancient Thai treasures and artistic pieces.

After his disappearance in 1967, the teak-framed house was converted into an eye-catching museum that now displays Thomson’s art collection within its rooms. The collection includes rare Chinese porcelain items, artefacts from Burma and Cambodia set in a garden, and several of Thomson’s own silks.
