What are the most beautiful islands to visit in Langkawi? Top 7 islands to explore

From island hopping adventures to voyages that culminate at beautiful waterfalls and historic caves, Langkawi’s islands are a treasure trove of wonder and excitement vying for your attention.

1

Pulau Tuba

Home to a number of traditional fishermen, the remote island of Pulau Tuba is where you can look forward to traversing through a charming village, uncovering the nuances of every day life in Langkawi and enjoying a few hours of bird watching and trekking through dense thickets with no threat of being distracted at any point in time.

2

Pulau Singa Besar

Perfect for a day trip where you will have the luxury to roam free within a wildlife sanctuary whose inhabitants will thrill you to bits, Pulau Singa Besar serves as one of the smaller islands in Langkawi. Once here, you may feast your eyes on mangrove plants, mesmeric rock formations and of course the island’s main attraction – the wildlife reserve where species such as deer, monkeys, lizards and snakes reside.

3

Pulau Payar Marine Park

Totalling 4 islands that are found within a radius of 2 nautical miles of which the larger of the lot is Pulau Payar, the lovely Pulau Payar Marine Park can be accessed via speedboat or catamaran from the Kuah Jetty. Though uninhabited, visitors can spend their time diving and snorkelling but will have to ensure that they comply with the regulations of Kedah’s Fisheries Department who is responsible for its safeguarding.

4

Pulau Dayang Bunting

Shaped in the form of an expectant mother that has led to its name – Pulau Dayang Bunting which when translated to English means ‘Isle of the Pregnant Mother,’ the mentioned island is rated as the 2nd largest of its kind in Langkawi. Adorned in vast stretches of lush green foliage, Pulau Dayang Bunting features its own lake that is associated with a degree of superstition. This is because the lake waters are thought to make barren women fertile. However, for the less superstitious, these waters afford conducive conditions to go swimming, regardless of age or skill level. Interestingly enough, the island contains a fascinating cave known as Gua Langsir which provides a chance to spot a large colony of bats.

5

Pulau Beras Basah Island

Should clear blue skies, verdant backdrops and inviting aquamarine oceans be to your liking, then what’s stopping you from getting to Pulau Beras Basah Island? Found some 25 km southwest of the Kuah Jetty, patrons are highly recommended to bring along all their fanciest beach outfits and swimwear for these pleasing outdoors would be irresistible to not want to while away the hours in.

In fact, day trips can be easily reserved when on Langkawi Island and in terms of travel time, average boat rides are not known to exceed the 10-minute mark from the Kuah Jetty.
