Many of Adam Goldberg's students have great difficulty speaking. But that doesn't mean they have nothing to say, or to express or to feel. It also doesn't mean they are not eloquent. Adam has given his students a way to communicate their emotions through an innovative iPad band.
Many of Adam Goldberg's students have great difficulty communicating, moving, reading, or concentrating. Some of his students are on the Autism Spectrum and some have Multiple Disabilities. But this hasn't stopped Adam from teaching advanced concepts in his music class; concepts like polyrhythms, dynamics, and ensemble playing.

They've got the beat. FoxNews.com broke the news in July of a school band from New York City made up of special needs students using iPads as instruments. After the shoot, we suggested putting their original song on iTunes for the world to hear ... and now they have.

There's a steady stream of hype surrounding the pluses and pitfalls of classroom tablet computers. But for a growing number of special education students tablets and their apps are proving transformative. The tablets aren't merely novel and fun. With guidance from creative teachers, they are helping to deepen engagement, communication, and creativity.
