Recommended Reading List for Entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs

Start With Why - Simon Sinek [10/10]

Very powerful book - it completely changed my view of Apple, myself and Elexu, a company I work for If you start with Why you don't have to worry about competition and your live will be much simpler and much more meaningful. One of the most valuable books I've read.

Awaken the Giant Within - Anthony Robbins [10/10]

This book will change your life - if you will let it.

Made to Stick - Chip Heath, Dan Heath [10/10]

Excellent and easy to understand book full of great examples. This book will make you a better communicator - not necessarily a better presenter but surely better communicator - but then that's much more valuable anyway.

Built to Last - Jim Collins, Jerry I. Porras [10/10]

Excellent book full of ideas and inspiration for improving your company. The book has changed my view. I always thought a success of excellent companies lies in great charismatic leaders but now I believe it's rather a company design - vision, values and processes - that determines success in long term. Probably the best book I've read this year. Can't recommend it highly enough.

The Four Steps to the Epiphany - Steven Gary Blank [10/10]

A bible for startup entrepreneurs. The predecessor of the Lean Startup movement coming up with the idea of Customer Discovery/Development needs to go hand in hand with Product Development.

Who Moved My Cheese? - Spencer Johnson [10/10]

Being a change activist myself I thought this book can't surprise me with anything. I was wrong - at several points in the book I was absolutely awed by the power of a simply put truth. Excellent book. And it's a short one as well so even people who don't read books won't have a problem with it. READ IT, IT'S WORTH IT!

The Innovator's Dilemma - Clayton M. Christensen [10/10]

I believe the book is a must for every manager and also a great reading for entrepreneurs who want to start a new business.

Getting Things Done - David Allen [9/10]

The bible of personal task management. Must read for everyone. I've heard a lot about GTD and even read some guides on how to implement it but the reading the book gave me a full appreciation of what the GTD system means and why I want it.

The 4-Hour Work Week - Tim Ferriss [9/10]

A bible for startup entrepreneurs looking to achieve financial independence. The art of delegation described in a simple terms.

The E-Myth Revisited - Michael E. Gerber [9/10]

Great book with easy to follow advice on how to make sense of chaos of running a small business. Michael introduces a great concept of Technician, Manager and Entrepreneur who reside in each of us and who fight against each other to follow their agenda which might be contradicting to the needs of others. Just for this this book is worth reading for everyone - even if you don't have your own company it will give you a nice perspective of what roles of managers and executives involve. Enjoy!

Don't Make Me Think - Steve Krug [9/10]

Great introduction into web design. Well written, with a lot of graphical examples and very little unnecessary text. I strongly recommend it to everyone involved in building a website - not just to developers but also (and maybe even more so) to other business stakeholders (i.e. business and executive managers)

Now, Discover Your Strengths - Marcus Buckingham [9/10]

Now, Discover Your Strengths - Marcus Buckingham [9/10]

I really liked this book - I like self discovery so I found it very interesting to identify my key talents - I was really surprised with some of the results which further increases the perception of a value from the book. I strongly believe there is a huge opportunity to utilise individual strengths of each person/employee instead of forcing them to focus on their weaknesses. I would recommend the book to every manager, entrepreneur but also employee - this book can direct you towards happiness in your life.

Business Model Generation - Alexander Osterwalder, Yves Pigneur [9/10]

Great book that makes people think about Business Models of their companies and organisations. It introduces a simple framework that describes the key elements of any business model. The book defines a shared and easily understandable language related to business models which is a necessary requirement for effective discussion. The book is very visual and easy to apply in real life.

Linchpin - Seth Godin [8/10]

Inspiring book about different ways of how people work today. It doesn't say much you couldn't see yourself but it wouldn't probably occur to you to look at it that way. This book will make you think and it can change you life - Read it! (if you are not scared)

The Entrepreneur's Guide to Customer Development - Brant Cooper, Patrick Vlaskovits [8/10]

The Entrepreneur's Guide to Customer Development - Brant Cooper, Patrick Vlaskovits [8/10]

A simple guide on how to get out of the building and start validating hypothesis you have about your business with your future customers. Having had some previous knowledge of Customer Development and Lean Startup methodology, majority of the book (definitions, reasoning why to do customer discovery) was a bit boring for me, but the description of step by step process with real examples, templates and pitfalls to avoid more than made up for it. Overall the book is very thin (100 small pages) and I would recommend it to any entrepreneur.
